Romy opened the store with a McCaskey cash register and a unmovable floor safe both are used everyday. Given the name "your hometown jeweler", it was purchased in the 90's by Frank Bowlby, who kept the McDonalds name and traditions. In 1997 Pat Bowlby purchased the store from his brother. He and his wife Sherry did an extensive remodel and added the "gifts" to the store model. Clocks, and jewelry boxes continue to be sold at the store alone with assorted small gifts. Michael Estey and Kenneth Anderson purchased the store in 2000 from Pat & Sherry, and once again the store got a small face lift. While introducing new technology with CAD custom designs taking McDonald's Jewelers to the next level. This is known to jewelers as the "4 C's". With this knowledge you can ask the right questions and understand the stone's grading scale.

Pear shaped, Emerald, Marquise, Asscher Cushion, Princess, and Heart shape. The "round brilliants" have their own instinctive shape.
CLARITY - this is an 11 step scale. Stones are rated based on a grading scale.
Flawless(FL), Internally Flawless(IF), Very, Very Slightly Included(VVS1 & VVS2), Very Slightly Included (VS1 & VS2), Slightly Included (SI1 & SI2) and Imperfect Included (I1, I2 & I3). Most common is VS to SI range these tend to be clean to the human eye. Only under magnification with the inclusion be visible.
CARAT - The diamonds weight not its size.
Each metric carat weighs 200 milligrams., with each carat divided into hundredths or points. So if a dollar contains 100 pennies , each carat comprises of 100 points. Ex. 75 points diamond weighs 0.75 carats, or a 50 pointer weighs 0.50 carats.
COLOR - Colorless diamonds are graded on scale from D - being completely clear to Z - traces of yellow, gray or brown. There is a letter for each shade.
Recommended to stay in the "D" thru the "L" range this will give you great brilliance for your dollar. Fancy Color diamonds are not rated, but the more saturated the color the move expensive it will be.
